Ken O’Neill began his martial arts and self-defense education in 1969 at the age of 15. His range of experience includes basic western grappling and more advanced training in Karatedo, Bruce Lee's training methods, Aikido, Muay Thai, Filipino Kali-Escrima, Japanese Jujutsu, Basic Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, edged weapon tactics and defense, and specialized training in defensive tactics and Pressure Point Control Tactics. His teachers include Dan Inosanto (Filipino Martial Arts and Bruce Lee's training methods), Ron Smith (Muay Thai), and Will Reed (Aikido).
After practicing with many martial artists and combat instructors for over 35 years, Ken has created his own integrated, ever-evolving practice and course of study.
Although his original motivation was purely self-defense, Ken has come to the realization that it is even more important to evolve through the integration of body, mind, and spirit. This has led to the creation of Progressive Awareness Systems: a structured and balanced course emphasizing physical fitness, combat reality, confidence development, and an attitude of adaptability and awareness using the training not only for developing the body but also for developing the mind for facing challenges and all forms of fear and conflict in daily life.
SELF PROTECTION AND SELF DEVELOPMENT TRAINING AND PRACTICE
Over the course of many years of studying the issues of self-protection (preventing conflict) and self-defense (defending yourself and others when conflict cannot be avoided) backed by extensive research done by the F.B.I. and Department of Justice, Ken has created realistic seminars and workshops to properly educate people about the realities, the myths, and what it really takes to prepare yourself to minimize your risks and maximize your potential for survival.
Learning about preventive self-protection is a crucial first step. It can arm you with information and begin an intuitive and informed way to practice daily in everything you do to avoid conflict.

For those who want to develop combat-real abilities in self-defense, Ken has an extensive course of study that will train you physically and mentally to be able to face and adapt to an unpredictable and ever changing environment of possible variables that can occur in physical defense situations. During the course of a long term study program, we progress from combat training to additional workshops that are available in inner growth modalities including Yoga, self-healing visualization, inner sense development, and meditative practices in 1 day and weekend long workshops.
