Visit with Seagal Sensei
Shihan Seagal, or as his personal students
refer to him as Take Sensei, also made requests of Jorge and myself to
please make arrangements for him to visit and train in both St. Louis and
Miami in the upcoming year. Take Sensei also expressed interest in lecturing
at the Buddhist Council of St. Louis. I remember several years ago when Take
Sensei lectured at the Naropa Institute in Boulder, CO along with his Aikido
seminar. Both the lectures and the training were well received by the large
group of Aikidoka, Buddhists and other interested groups and individuals
with very patient question and answer discussions at the end of each lecture
or training. The atmosphere created a strong common connection which I’m
sure that everyone took back with them to their home dojos. I’m looking
forward to these upcoming lectures and seminars from one of the world’s
great Shihans. I’m sure these upcoming visits with Take Sensei will be more
inspirational than any of us can imagine.
I will be returning to Los
Angeles to visit Seagal Sensei in mid-January to set up all Aikido seminar
dates for 2007. I also will be coordinating a private showing for Take
Sensei of some of the greatest samurai swords in the United States. I have
found Take Sensei’s high level of appreciation and expertise regarding the
Japanese sword to be very inspiring and I am looking forward to this
upcoming viewing of important niponto.
